Here are a few of the charities I support. Some of you may be looking
for charities to support. One thing I hope you'll notice about these is
that they are non-denominational and non-political. Okay, Toys For Tots is
run by the Marines, which is kinda political, but that's okay. And St.
Jude's is named after a Catholic saint, but they do great work and were started
by Danny Thomas.

The Children's
Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization
dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170
children's hospitals throughout North America. Each year these
non-profit hospitals treat more than 17 million children afflicted
with diseases, injuries and birth defects of every kind. |
 |
St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis,
Tennessee, is one of the world's premier centers for research and
treatment of catastrophic diseases in children, primarily pediatric
cancers. Founded in 1955 by Danny Thomas, this research and
treatment facility treats more than 4,000 patients annually. |
 |
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is dedicated to fulfilling
the wishes of children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses
worldwide.

 |
The American
Red Cross is part of the larger International Red Cross and Red
Crescent, dedicated to helping disaster and famine victims
worldwide. The American Red Cross also acts quickly in
disasters to deliver blood and relief supplies to the survivors and
the wounded. |

The Marine Corps Reserve Toys
For Tots organization is perhaps one of the easiest and best
organizations you can give to. It's fun to buy toys, you don't
have to wrap them, and they go to a disadvantaged kid
somewhere. What's not to like about this!?! On top of
that, this is one of those organizations where the organizer isn't
taking a (possibly large) cut off the top. |
 |
This is a more localized charity, I understand, but
it's still something I'd like to give a plug for. The Food
Bank of the Rockies does great work distributing food stuffs to
needy citizens throughout Northern Colorado and Wyoming. |
